Re: FFFC

  • We had to re-sleep train Connor because we were slipping into bad habits. After not having a good nights sleep since last weekend, we went back to CIO. We all slept for 7 blissful hours last night. I guess this is only flameworthy is you are against CIO, but I needed sleep.

I take time for myself, even when I'm home alone with my kids. They woke up too early this morning so I fed them, then made them play alone while I sat on the couch to drink coffee and check Facebook. I also just let DD watch two shows in a row (!) while I got work done and hung out with you guys.

This is a confession and an encouragement to the rest of you to take care of yourselves, too :)

    Yes

I could just go on and on about this... but I'll say three things because I can't keep them in my head. First, I'm seriously judging those parents. I try not to judge, but I can't help it here. Second, they need to be the parents and not let the kids run them. I don't care if the kids don't like wearing clothes, you freaking make them. Third, are they going to let them "be free" after puberty? Then again, they let grown men see them naked now, why not then? (and, really, women too. We always say "men" but women can be predators too.) I'm just appalled.

Don't worry, I judge them too, for all of the reasons that you mentioned.  What they want to allow in their own home is one thing, but how do you not teach you kids about appropriate behavior?  If they have no problem taking off their clothes in front of people they don't know, how can the parents be confident that they won't do it in a dangerous situation? And to allow your kids to be nude with other people when you're not around I just don't get.  I mean, sure, they were inside with me and the parents knew that, but they don't know me well at all.

Other then this ridiculousness I've never seen anything else questionable from them.  The girls are very happy, do well in school, their dad owns a martial arts studio and the girls train in that, they're good kids.  It's just this one weird thing, which is why I never considered calling CPS.  If I see it happen again I'll take the mom aside and try to find a nice way of saying something.  I don't think they're bad parents, I just think they're not thinking this through.

  • I hate it when people assume when you get a divorce you didn't try and make the marriage work. That you are supposed to work hard at it until the marriage magically gets better. I agree that it is so easy to get married and/or divorced. But in some cases it's not as easy as marriage counseling or just "working it out." I also don't think Facebook should be your journal, noone cares when you went to sleep or woke up or that you want a child soo bad but you aren't sure that you would be a good parent because you are bipolar. Some things are personal. Then when someone comments on your post about anything you say that it's your facebook and noone elses business.. seriously? You just posted for the whole world to see/judge and yet it's noones business? Whatever. lol

Been there! I deleted my middle aged Aunt and Ucle from facebook for various reasons. They tried to get my parents to make me apologize. I can be friends or not with whoever (whomever?) on facebook and don't think I need to apologize for that. Also, trying to make my parents make me apologize? What am I, 5 years old?

  • I bend over backwards for my patients. I often get no lunch and stay late to accommodate people. But this lady was a biotch to me. She thought I was her personal servant. She was irritated because I didn't ger her another coke while I was treating my patient having an allergic reaction to chemo.
So i refuse to work with her on appointment times. Whatever time
she wants i say we don't have it open.

My X-MIL is on mine, that is one reason I don't share a lot on there, because I don't want her to know much, not that I would use it as a "journal" anyway. Even with what little I have on there, she stalks me. But if I delete her she will blow my phone up and get my X-BIL to call me. She is nuts though! So I added her back to F.Book. I have got less calls and text from her and I usually ignore her f.book stuff to me. lol I can't delete her out of my life totally because she would prob. come find me and stalk me IRL. (she lives about 1-2 hours away from me and doesn't know my address or anything like that. even when she wasn't my X)

  • DH always has at least one or two "favorite" shirts that he wears into the ground, usually at least one or two work shirts (polos and button downs) and one t-shirt. He wears them, even when they have holes in them, because they're "comfortable." Every year for Christmas I buy him new shirts that are very similar to the old shirts, and make him watch me as I throw the old ones away. He absolutely HATES it when I "waste good clothes", but the kid is next in line for a promotion! I just can't let him go to work looking like a hobo!!

Ugh, speaking of wine. My dad dipped his finger in his wine glass then shoved his finger in Connor's mouth so Connor could have a taste of wine. Then Connor was all over everyone all night trying to get more wine. Thanks Dad.

  • My husband has been encouraging my MIL to get a facebook account. Don't ask me why, the woman is so technilogically challenged it amazes me. He told her I would walk her through how to set up an account. She has called me every night for the last 3 days, but hasn't left a message. I have ignored every call because I just don't want to deal with it. I can already imagine how it is going to go, and I don't want her on facebook. And I don't feel bad for being a bish about it.

My "uncle" (mom's bff's husband) did this to Aria with a chocolate ice cream jell-o shot thing. It had a ton of bailey's and some other alcohol in it. (I can't remember the recipe any more) I let him have it... It ended with "I swear to God (which I never  say), if you do anything like this to her ever again, I'll break your d@mn nose." He got the point.

Here's a spin off of the whole topless baby thing.

Once your little girl is 2 I think it's inappropriate to not have her covered.  She can walk, talk, and do a lot of things by herself.  At that point she's a kid and should be fully clothed in pictures.

A photographer that I liked for a friend posted pics of a girl who was 2 or 3 wearing only a tutu skirt, a long necklace, and a headband.  You could see nipple in some shots.  They weren't sexualized or age inappropriate, but it was awkward to see little girl nipples on my FB feed.

I agree with this.  I have no problem with babies in diapers (though I would never put a picture of the girls in the bathtub on the internet, but diapers is fine), but when they get older it's different.  My BIL had a BBQ over the summer and some friends came over with their 7 and 5 year old.  Both girls apparently hate wearing clothes and walked around naked most of the time.  I thought my ILs were going to have a heart attack and H mentioned on more then one occasion that our girls will not be allowed to do that.  I can't imagine allowing your school age children to walk around naked in another person's home and backyard.  They don't know any of the neighbors, who knows who could have been spying on their kids!

Wow. I would NOT go for that, either! And I agree with mirror--after 2, the kids need to keep their clothes on!

  • This FFFC thread is a little boring.

Never fear! Captain Save-a-ho is here!

    1. I didn't brush my teeth this morning, but I am chewing a piece of spearmint gum. Sometimes, you just have to slam a 4 bag tea, eat a sausage, and put socks and a sweater on your kid.

    2. I may have lied by ommission about money to my husband. I went to Target on my lunch break to pick up a little gift for DH's cousins' new baby. While I was there, I bought a few other things for my Alumni Association's Adopt-A-Family Program. I had mentioned to DH that I wanted to start doing Toys 4 Tots every year, as a way to teach LO charity. So, when I got home, I mentioned the gift, and also said I had bought "a couple toys and donated them." In reality I bought a pair of tennis shoes, a Barbie, a couple action figures, a Hello Kitty diary, and a bunch of Hello Kitty crap from the $1 spot. DH is a generous person, but prefers to show that generosity to people he actually knows personally who could use the help. It was out of my account anyways.

    3. I had a dream about a guy from college the other night. In my dream he was still very good looking, but the fooling around was akward and weird. (in the dream, that is).

    4. I am totally divorced. I got eloped at the age of 21 to a Scottish musician 4 years my senior, briefly after the 911 attacks. It was partially so he could get a VISA, partially because I was "in love" and after 911 filled with that carpe diem! feeling, and partially as a rebellion against my parents. We kept it a secret for about a month. The marriage lasted less than 2 years. Obviously, DH knows, and his family knows, but I really don't advertise the fact to anyone else IRL.

    5. I realize one of my confession makes me sound like a braggart (i.e., Look at the anonymous good works I do), another like a slut, and then another like I can't spell carpe diem!

So, there you have it. A foul-mouthed, lyin', dream-cheatin', divorcee with bad hygiene and poor spelling and grammar usage.

    You're welcome.

  • I took DS to the pedi today because he has had stomach virus and diarrhea since Monday and was up screaming 1/2 the night last night. I only got 2hrs sleep. Turns out he has an ear infection too. I don't know if he lost weight, but his weight was the same as it was 2 months ago. I cried like a baby while waiting for the doctor (after the nurse had weighed him) because I felt like a failure that he hasn't gained weight and it is my fault.
  • Redhead, I'll one up you on the non-boring stuff, if it'll make you feel better!

I can't believe I'm truly going to confess this but what the heck!...I'm lusting after a married man!  He and I are JUST friends. He's married, but not happily and I tell him all the time that he needs to get divorced.  He knows it/she knows it...he's just stupid and won't until she says she wants to.  Whatever, it's truly stupid and I tell him that all the time too.  I don't tell him this so that I can go after him, because it would never work with he and I, though I love him to death(a friend kind of love).  However, I have very, very, very bad/good thoughts about this man!!!

No no NO! NOT your fault! The poor guy had a stomach virus. It is cold and flu season, so sometimes it's unavoidable. Also, your LO has probably started to get  a little more mobile, so he may be burning more calories, thinning out, etc.

Don't feel guilty for him not gaining weight. Also, don't feel bad for crying in the doctor's office. Moms care about their children more than anything else in the world. It's not a sign of weakness to be emotionally-invested.

They do have kids, 2.  They're staying together because "she" can't make it on her own financially...though he would pay child support, and did when they split before.  He says if she wasn't stupid with her money she'd be more than fine.  I always tell him he needs to "grow a pair" and leave.  They're both miserable!!!  It's one of those situations where they should've never gotten married to begin with.  They seperated and gotten back together several times.  It's ridiculous.  He loves his kids though...aside from all other crap, he's a good daddy!

  • imagedanac2010:

WOW.  SD isn't even allowed to go from her bedroom to the bathroom at bath time without a robe on.  I think once a child is around 3-4 walking around naked is a no-no.  Boys in their underware ok maybe just to go to bed and they wake up and potty but no.  My nephew has a thing about wearing clothes.  He is 9 and still comes home every day from school and strips to his underware.  I don't think this is appropriate.

For starters I totally agree that the thing Jen talked about with the kids running around stark naked was NOT at all appropriate.

However, I am really confused why it would not be OK for your SD to walk from her bedroom to the bathroom at bedtime without a robe on... assuming she's... IDK, less than 10 or something (if she's older than that then I guess I get it). If she's 3 or 4 like I think you may have been indicating, I don't see it as a problem at all to be walking from one room to another with a purpose while naked. As in, not just running around the house naked for no reason other than wanting to be naked and playing.

I have no issue if Addy walks from her room to the bathroom while naked at the age of 3 or 4 for the purpose of getting into the bathtub or something like that. It's our house and it's not like the windows are open or anything to where anyone could see. Just wanting to play while naked is another story though past the age of 2 or so... clothes will then be required at least in our household.

I still suck my thumb...and I have a security blanket.

No lie... I find this weird. The security blanket part weirds me out a lot less than the thumb sucking part though. I have to ask... do you suck your thumb in front of anyone?

I just realized that when I have more than one kid, I'll have to load them in the car one at a time. One will always look like they are abandoned, every time I go out. I wonder if CPS will take away both kids or just the abandoned looking one. Do I need to pick which one I love more?

Starbuck- you have been cracking me up so much lately. I love it!

It's not that weird lol. It's a bad habit, like nail biting. I only do it at night. Not even consciously.

And no...not in front of everyone. THAT would be weird.

I have straight teeth and no side effects from it...other than being slightly embarassed about it. But no one knows besides my family and DH. My mom has this bad habit too.

It's better than smoking or nose picking or some other stuff people do....right? Embarrassed

I still suck my thumb...and I have a security blanket. I encouraged DS' lovey to be a blanket. He loves his 'blankie'. DH fears he will grow up to be like me and take it to college with him. He doesn't suck his thumb, so he won't be exactly like me...

Ooo good one! I sucked mine until I went to college. I think the embarrassment of my roommate potentially catching me is what prompted me to stop.

OK, now that I know it's not in front of people that makes it slightly less strange to me, haha. I was envisioning you in the middle of a Christmas gathering, hovered in the corner with a blankie and sucking your thumb. I feel better now. :) Most of us probably have "bad" habits of some kind.

    Bahahahahahahaha! No way, never.

  • DH is working late this week and I'm asleep when he gets hom. Thanks to AF I have been horny as fuhhh. I used my new little "friend" every night this week. Before last week I'd never used one alone, and now I can't stop!
