MIL vent....

So as my earlier post says I have decided to let my little boy juandice play itself out as long as he is acting healthy in every other way. My MIL reaction to this to tell my husband we are bad parents. Yep we are bad parents for getting his levels check even though the doctor didn't think it was really necessary for getting an ultrasound to double check to make sure his liver was working right. For not giving him water [ which by the way would make his jaundice worse]. For getting blood work done before we jumped on the vitamin supplement wagon. For me breastfeeding every hour and a half for the past 6 weeks! For not just letting the doctors tell us what is best but being an informed person with thoughts of our own. For not going and doing a possibly dangerous GI test for a mild case of jaundice caused most likely by breastfeeding. For not giving in to parental pressure and giving my baby formula. We are bad parents for being parents. Oh and we failed em by never giving her water before 7 months when we started her on soft table foods. Please tell me I am not alone in thinkings she is crazy for thinking I am a bad parent!

True words have never been spoken! Thank you. I sometimes need someone to remind me she hasn't had a kid since before I was born. (DH younger sister is 3 years older than me)

This. Also, you are clearly better informed about modern infant care - don't let her shake your faith in your mommy instincts.

And I hate how they all jump up and start slapping my toddler on the back if he chokes on something.  He's breathing and coughing...quit smacking my kid!  And if he was truly choking, hitting him like that could make it worse!  I get the same response all the time, "well that's how we did it!"  UGH!

You are a great parent and are doing what's best for your baby.
