This is the 3rd week that I've had to take Miralax or else all that happens is balls. The nurse wants me to start colace twice a day once the Miralax works. I'm eating fiber and drinking as much water as I can stomach (still have slight morning sickness). Sigh. Any tips or tricks? I'm just sick of being on pills for everything (multivitamin, zofran, iron (anemic from pregnancy) and now colace!) I've never taken so much stuff in my life, seriously.
Re: Constipation woes
Ok, from my experience... Zofran and iron supplements back you up, to the point of misery.
The biggest mistake people make with Colace is that they only take it when they are in trouble and by that point it is too late, you have to take it consistently to really see the benefits from it. I take 1 pill in the morning and 1 at night - it makes a HUGE difference. Also, I was put on a regimen of Colace after my appendectomy in college, so I know how critical it is to take every dose for your routine to be effective.
As soon as I was able to stop taking Zofran for my horrendous m/s, I found out I was anemic so I started iron supplements - I only really had a break from the Colace for about 2 - 3 weeks.
Hope you get some relief soon!
