Hi Ladies!!
I'm relatively new to TB, but have been lurking for a while. I'm learning how to chart my BBT and CM. DH and I are wanting to switch from BCP's to charting as a form of birth control. I was just wondering how many of you have successfully used charting as birth control? We will still be using condoms as a back up method until ovulation. He wants me to explore other non-hormonal forms, but I don't know of any others besides IUD's, which I don't want. This just seems like a natural step. Are they're any other easily available, non-hormonal options out there? I know of one person who has used charting/condoms successfully for 2 years. I just need a "bigger sample size."
TIA
Re: Charting and TTA??
We used to have a frequent poster who swore by vaginal contraceptive film (VCF). It should be available right next to the condoms.
Otherwise, NFP (aka charting to avoid) can be reliable if you follow it to a T (aka abstain or use barrier methods prior to confirmed ovulation). But you have to be vigilant about it. I wouldn't suggest it unless you're kind of OK with getting KU, because it could happen if you're not extremely careful.
I've only used BCP and condoms, but what about a diaphragm?

PAIF/SAIF Welcome!
I used FAM to TTA for 5 months successfully.
There is an entire board of people on the TCOYF website with posters who are using it to TTA. Some use barrier methods during fertile periods (FAM) some abstain (NFP). They were a great resource for me. There are posters there who have been using it successfully for years.
It requires dedication, but it's effective when followed correctly. GL.
*snort* at "effective when followed correctly"
I was charting to avoid. Usually O'd CD14-17. One cycle, with no CM in sight (literally, dry as the desert), we had sex on CD11. CD12 I was gushing CM. CD28 I got a BFP.
So. Yeah. He's almost 20 months old.
Yup. Charting to avoid totally works.
FF said I O'd on CD20, which wasn't out of scope with my average O. But then about a week later FF gave me new crosshairs on CD25.
::glances at cute kid in sig::
If you aren't ready for a kid, then use something more *reliable* than charting for TTA.
Mmmm...cake!
