Torn frenulum

LO fell on a toy at daycare yesterday and I think she tore her frenulum. I've heard that this is pretty common and usually you just let it heal on it's own. I'm waiting for the nurse to call me back. Anyone deal with this yet?

  • I tore mine when I was a toddler. My mom said it freaked her out because I bled a lot but I think it healed pretty fast. Now I have an extra big smile! Big Smile

  • that makes me feel better thanks. Ugh still waiting for the nurse to call. I guess they don't think it's that serious?

  • Not a big deal. DD has a thick frenulum and the doc said it would likely tear on its own with a fall. She said it would bleed a lot but that I didn't even need to call and tell them.

  • Doc said it was fine and he doesn't need to see her. She's already back to normal. Thanks for making me feel better while I waited!

  • I was tongue tied and this happened to me once in a while growing up. It can be so sore. Hopefully your lo feels better soon.

  • I don't have experience with a torn frenulum, but my ds was tongue tied when he was born and they snipped his frenulum and it was no big deal.  They put a little numbing stuff on it and snipped it with scissors.  It bled a little and he was back to mornal in 30 minutes, much more traumatic for mama than baby.  I'm guessing this is the same :)
