typical # of follicles from clomid?

I had my CD 11 US this am and have a follicle on each ovary measuring 13 and 14. this was my first round of clomid and I also ovulate on my own so for some reason i thought I would have more. I have lots of ovulation cramps today though which is weird since he wants me to come in fri for a trigger shot and sat am for IUI. Does this sound typical? thanks ladies

The cycle I got pregnant with the triplets I had 3 mature follies and 1 close. It was my 3rd month on Clomid but I didn't haven monitoring the first 2 months. I also had done 3 unmedicated cycles before moving to Clomid.

Then when I went back for pregnancy #2 I wasn't responding very well, only had 1 follie on two different cycles. One was a BFN, the other we cancelled and went to injectables on my next cycle.

I myself think 2 follies is the perfect number for me...it just depends on your history and how long you have been try.

I would ask for another ultrasound the day before or the day you plan to trigger. You want to make sure those follies are at the very least 19mm before you trigger. Good luck!

thanks. Congrats on your family! The follicle has to be fully mature before the trigger or the egg won't fertilize? (sorry for the stupid question but I always get flustered in the REs office and then think of tons of things to ask later) This is my first round with assistance.

A follicle under 19mm usually is too small to contain a mature egg...this does depend on meds, some fertility meds mature eggs at a smaller size, for Clomid though I prefer the follie to be at least 19mm even better if they are 20-24mm at time of trigger. Most RE's want follies between 20-24mm because then they very likely contain mature eggs. If you trigger a follie that is not mature it won't be viable.

I did 3 rounds of clomid. 50, 50, and 100mg. And produced 1-2 for each cycle. I think they ranged between 22-27 each time. As far as what is normal I think it depends on your dosage, history, etc. Good Luck!
