XP: Clicky Poll - WWSIF ladies do?

So one of the things I'm thinking is a possible reason, or contributing factor, to my RPL is my thyroid.  My October pregnancy they tested it and it came back 3.74 which was out of the range of normal.  When it was tested for my Nov pregnancy it came back at 2.53 which the RE I just started seeing said was within the range of normal so no need for medications.  I am so concerned about this that I asked the nurse if I could get it tested now while I am still pregnant, even though we have determined that there is virtually no chance that this will be a viable pregnancy.  She told me that it wouldn't make any sense to do that because the levels are already elevated because I am pregnant.  So that since they rise normally during pregnancy that it wouldn't make sense to test it.  First question (non clicky poll lol), does that make sense to anyone else?? Even though they rise in pregnancy shouldn't they still be within a certain range??Anyway, she explained to me that once we got to the point where there was no more HCG in my system that we would then go through tons of blood tests to look at all kinds of things including my baseline thyroid.  And that would help give a better picture.  I told her if I became pregnant again I would still think it would be beneficial to look at the levels.  And she said to talk to the Dr. about that directly when I saw him next but he would probably do that if I felt like it would give me peace of mind to have that information.  So that was something I felt okay with. But - okay so now I get to the clicky poll part! (Thanks for hanging in there lol)  In the mean time, I'm wondering if maybe I should make an appointment with a regular immunologist.  I would have to drive a bit of a distance (at least an hour) as there are none near me.  But I'm conflicted about this.  On the one hand I think a regular immunologist might be able to give a better perspective and better information because that's their specific specialty instead of an RE who is looking at all different fertility factors.  But on the other hand what if I get conflicting advice?  So therein lies my CP question.  Thanks for reading all of this!  And thanks for any opinions/thoughts you can offer! Oh, BTW, there is also only ONE yes, really ONE RE within an hour of me.  Grrr how I hate living in such a rural area!  If there were more choices I might go to another RE to get another opinion.  Or maybe I should consider having to make a further drive to see another one... hmmm :(  Another question to come up later :([Poll]

  • This STC stuff is hard, emotional and expensive. I myself am all for doing whatever I have to to make sure I am getting my best shot. So I would totally push for any testing that may help me attain success. Good luck.

  • Having gone through work-up by a well-known reproductive immunologist, I would say it is worth doing, but there are other more basic tests you could do first.  Also, you are 100% right to be worried about your thyroid. Also, have you had anti-thyroid antibodies tested?
