Trouble TTC

Newbie here

Hi there, I am new to posting on here. My husband and I are both 35 and have been married for just over a year. We have been TTC during that time. I found out in July that I have a prolactinoma, which is a benign tumor on my pituitary gland. This tumor causes an increase in my prolactin level which in turn causes me not to ovulate regularly. I have been on medication since July which is supposed to reduce the prolactin level to a normal level so that I will again begin ovulating regularly. While my periods have become closer to regular (coming every six weeks rather than once every 3-4 months) there has only been a very small decrease in my prolactin level. The doctors have said we will have to wait until the level starts to decrease & my periods become more regular to see if that does it or if I will need to go see a fertility specialist. My doctors have told us to keep TTC which we have but since I have no idea when or if I will ovulate from month to month it is very hard to determine when is the best time to try.

At this point I'm feeling very frustrated, anxious, angry, depressed, you name it. I'm so sick of having to wait for blood tests every 6 weeks only to be told nothing has changed. I'm tired of crying after having sex because afterwards all I think is could this have been the time we have been able to conceive. I'm tired of being disappointed every month when my late period finally arrives. Worst of all of I'm tired of feeling like I'm broken.

I'm sorry if I sound like a debbie downer, I just needed somewhere to get this all out. My husband is very supportive but I just don't think he will ever understand how I completely feel. I guess what I'm asking for by writing this post is if any of you other women who are having similar problems would be willing to share your stories and let me know that someone out there knows how I feel.

 Thanks for listening.

Hello and welcome. I am sorry you have to be here. I would suggest picking up a copy of Taking Charge of your Fertility and learning how to temp and chart. That is the only way to know if you are ovulating now each cycle. You can also click on the Fertility Friend ticker in my siggy to get signed up to chart. It is so nice knowing each month whether you are or are not O'ing. OPKs in combinating with charting are a great tool. A few months of charting will also give you a great resource to show your doctor. GL!
