Doctor wants me back for another preg test??

Hey ladies..

So I just got my BFP on Friday of last week, so just 5 days ago. I am very early, as this is only the week I would be getting my period if I ovulated when I think I did. I did an 'early' at home test. 

(long story short I never got my first period after coming of BC Pills, I just ovulated and got pregnant this month after 3 months of nothing!)

 I was super pumped that I was pregnant, did a few tests at home Fri and Sat just to be sure! Went to the doc last night, to do a first appointment - having no idea what to do. So they took blood to confirm my pregnancy and said once its confirmed we'll book my first prenatal.

Well they just called and said, yes its positive, but they want me back in on Monday to do it again. I asked the nurse why and she said, "oh some doctors just like to do it again a week later just to make sure things are progressing"

Should I be concerned?? I know its very early, so my hcg levels are likely very very low. I asked a gf who has kids and she said that its normal and they just like to make sure your levels are going up quickly like they're supposed to.. but I still can't help but be a bit worried...

Anyone else have this happen to them?

My wacko DR had me come back for 3 blood draws in one week just to make sure things were progressing. They were (are) so I wouldn't worry about it! (easier said than done, I know...)

Um, that's not wacko and some people really want to know, especially women of have suffered losses in the past.  It's called checking beta HCG to see that it is appropriately increasing (should double approximately every 48 hours).

Sorry if that came across insensitive! That was not at all my intention. My Dr IS wacko, but it has nothing to do with checking the beta levels. She was wacko because she TOLD me after my second doubling HCG number that I was still probably having a m/c and need a third. I declared her "bedside manner" wacko. Sorry again! I also agree checking the progression is important!

Doctor just making sure your HCG levels are doubleing.  If they aren't then pregnancy might not be viable.  They usually do it 2 or 3 times depending on the HCG numbers.

thats a little odd... do you have a history of m/c? I had blood done at 4 weeks when I found out i was pregnant, then every month after that to check sugars, wbc, rbc, ect.

no history of m/c..this is my first pregnancy..which is why I'm a little concerned as I have nothing to compare it too!

I'm hopeful its just to make sure things are going up like they're supposed to... I'm just going to stay positive, as I assume my hcg levels are really low, I would only be like 3 weeks I guess right now, technically my period would be here like today... or does that make me 4 weeks.. I have no idea..

anyway, just keeping positive until next monday when they re-test!
