After all of the hype about the new Oregon Zoo elephant, in the middle of the night I happened to be up and see a news release from Seattle stating that the baby elephant was actually owned by a elephant rental company that is known for abusing their elephants will bullhooks. The Zoo said they would make a statement in the morning. This morning, as breaking news, they informed everyone that the contract that the zoo's RoseTu's 2nd, 4th and 6th babies are owned by the other company a month after birth was true. This calf is the 2nd. Like one if the newsanchors said, not once did they say that they 100 percent guarantee that the calf will stay at the zoo.
I guess I was totally ignorant to the fact that these types of things happen. But why not use a bull from another zoo, instead of a controversial business known for bullhooking and chaining their elephants?!
