My daughter, Anya, is 2 months old and was just prescribed omeprazole today for acid reflux. My husband went and picked up the Rx and to my dismay it tastes horrible and they didn't offer to flavor it for him. I gave the first dose to little one and she made horrible faces, gagged, coughed and did just about everything she could to spit it out. I tried giving it to her in the pocket of her cheek and it still made her gag and she even threw up a little ... which is really counterproductive. Any advice on how to make this more palatable for her? I apologize if this topic has already been discussed, but I searched and didn't find anything. I searched on Google and it looks like it can be flavored. Does anyone know if I can take it back to Walgreen's and ask them to flavor it? She is EBF so she's not too keen on taking a bottle at the moment, so mixing it with BM isn't really and option either.
Re: Help! How to get baby to take Prilosec (omeprazole)?
I was just going to post about this my 6 week old has been on it a couple weeks and its near impossible to give it to him. He spits it out, chokes, screams, etc. I am not even sure if you can mix it I have read different reviews on that. I want to try something else
Great I will see if they'll flavor it for me. I read online the best flavors to pair with that medicine is Grape, Bubblegum, or Grapebubblegum. I kind of found it funny that they have a list of meds and which flavors it tastes best with... like pairing wine with dinner LOL
