Hello my 2 year old has been screaming and going crazy when I or anyone else change her diaper. She has had a few rashes but she's doing it without a rash at all. I don't know what to do she won't say anything that's wrong just I want mommy even when it's me changing her
Re: 2 year old screaming during diaper change
How long ago was her last rash? DD1 had a really bad rash about a month ago for almost a week. It was another week of her screaming everytime I changed her diaper. I used the little squirt bottle they gave me after I had DD2 for the bathroom, and filled it with warm water, put a towel under her tush, and "bathed" her for a week or so instead of using wipes. Sometimes the fear of the pain stays with them for a while, and the wipes may sting a little even if you don't see a rash. And, I think DD1 thought the warm water on her tush was a treat or something, so she settled down.

My son thrashes and screams for diaper changes to the point where my mother asked me if DC was being too rough with him. His issue is purely one of not wanting to be contained and not wanting to stop what he's doing. I think it's just part of being 2 that some aren't ready for potty training but they also don't like the interruption of a diaper. I have found if he has something to keep his hands busy while I change him that it helps tremendously. We also sing a song that keeps him still waiting for the part where we tickle him because he never knows how long of a pause there will be before the tickles. (get the diaper secured on before the tickles of course) HTH and GL
Our Song-
I see your hiney, it's nice and shiney, you better hide it, before I (pause for however long you want or need to finish the diaper) BITE IT! (tickle when you say bite it)
Love it!!!
DS HATES cold wipes. He's much better if I warm them up. Can't say I blame him.
Does she have a fever or anything?
DS hates diaper changing with a passion. I try to give him a favorite book during a change and ask him to find the elephant or find the monkey in the book because that is what he likes right now. I have also learned to diaper him while on his stomach because he keeps flipping over.
If she's inconsolable during I'd call the doctor...maybe a uti or something?
