Cloth Diapering

Coconut oil add ins

Can I make a "yeast diaper cream" by melting some coconut oil and adding in a few drops each of TTO and GSE and letting it resolidify?  And then can i smear that right on her butt at changings? Sorry if this has been asked before, I tried the search feature but it was sucking hardcore.

  • I make lotion about the same way. Only I will let it solidify and then whip it in my kitchen aid. Don't see why not. I would only use it as like a preventative. You'd still want to get rid of the rash and then strip her dipes.

  • We've been fighting this yeast for a few months.  It clears up, i treat a few days beyond clear, start back in cloth, and it comes back.  I've bleached, tto'd, stripped my diapers. And it keeps coming back. I've washed beyond my diapers too. I've bleached and treated my wipes, her towels, her changing pad covers.  I really dont know where it keeps coming from.

Here's my current plan: for the 2X a day I put lotrimin on her, I will use a disposable.  Afterwards wipe off the lotrimin. The changes in between I plan on using cloth with this cream.  I know that I will have to treat my cloth for the next week (at LEAST) as well w/ bleach.

will i still need to strip if i dont use the lotrimin w/ cloth?

You'll want to bleach, not strip, to kill the yeast. Unless you've been using something that's clogged up your diapers, traditional stripping wont do a thing

  • I have bleached. Several times. And rinsed. And done TTO. Many times. In fact I was adding TTO to every load to try to break the cycle. I asked about stripping in regards to the lotrimin that I'm still using.

  • Yes, you could do that. I add the GSE to my wipes solution so that he gets done with every diaper change. He has only had one real rash in his life. I put the coconut oil on only when his skin starts to look red for any reason. He doesn't need it otherwise.
