I have a nephew named Briar, alothugh it is spelled differently. I love him and the name suits him now, but I have always thought of it as a girl's name and think it was a really, really strange choice.
ETA: even though I know one, I still chose "girl" in the poll.
I went to school with a male Briar so it's all boy to me

I've recently heard of an old acquaintance on FB naming their baby Briar. Can't remember if it was a girl or a boy. All I can think of is that it reminds me of a dog's name.
