How long would you let your little one stay in bed for naptime without actually sleeping? This is the first time since she went down to one nap a day that she is not going to sleep. Just humming and talking to herself. It has been going on for an hour.
Re: Napping ?
If he's content, I leave him up until an hour or even longer until he starts fussing/crying.
I'd probably leave him up until 1.5-2 hours if he was happy playing quietly since on a typical non-sleep regression, non-teething day he will nap 2 hours. He needs the quiet time (and so do I).
I usually leave him in there until normal nap time would be over. Unless he's pissed of course. Some days he won't nap, just talks to himself and has "quiet time". He is more of a jerk in the evenings when he skips his nap but I still think it's important that he has time to chill out and be quiet.
If I *know* he's super tired and just fighting it, I'll go in and re-tuck him in. Don't know if that'd work for your LO or it it'd rile her up.
If she is in the crib and not asleep within 30 minutes (or rather LOOKS like she is wide awake), I go in to check her diaper. (9 times out of 10 she needs a diaper change).
But my daughter loves her nap. She usually is drifting off within 10-25 minutes and can easily sleep for 3 hours.
