Help! Teething?

Does this sound like teething?

DS is 6 months actual, 3.5 months adjusted.  Seems early for teeth, but I know every baby is different.  The past 2-3 days have been hell trying to feed him.  He usually starts out okay, but after about one ounce starts writhing around, smacking the bottle and trying to get away from it.  He starts crying and acting like he's in real pain whenever the bottle even so much as gets near his mouth. It's really weird.  He's not taking even close to the amount he's supposed to be taking.  He does not seem sick otherwise and is happy and smiley when he's not trying to eat.  He's not running a temp.  DH and I can't see any teeth trying to poke through, but I know the pain can start before any visible signs of teeth actually appear.

Also, he's been on Zantac for reflux since he came home from the NICU and we're pretty sure this is not a reflux thing.  This seems different.  He's not constipated either, he's had plenty of dirty diapers.

We have his pedi 6 month well check tomorrow so I will ask her, but since it's a weekend, I'm feeling very anxious about this due to the fact that he's not eating.

Re: Help! Teething?

  • DS was a 26 weeker and started teething at 3 months adjusted as well. It sounds like your LO is going through the same thing. Poor thing! We bought DS the Grabber when he was old enough told hold it and bite it-it was a life saver and better than any teething toy he ever had.

  • My son's first teeth broke through when he was barely 5.5 months actual and 3.5 m adjusted. So it's definitely possible!!!
