Some people....

Am i the only one that knows people that you wonder "what the hell are they thinking?" when they do certain things?

Friend of mine and her husband just posted their kids beds online to be sold. Their twins just turned 3 and when they get a new bedroom set, that will be the 4th bedroom set they have had since they were in their cribs. Their oldest will be 5 next week, he has already had 5 bedroom sets not including his crib. Since their fiveyearold was born they have lived in 5 houses. Each time they move, they sell almost everything they own for dirt cheap and buy all new stuff for the new house. Also since their fiveyearold was born, they have had 10 different vehicles because they cannot commit to some that they actually like. They are constantly buying stuff off of craigslist so their kids can have it for six months and then they turn around and sell it for double the price they paid for it. Sometimes they even get stuff for free and then turn around and sell it for a hefty price.

I know it is not my business and they can do whatever they want but I hate seeing people fall for it and spend money on something that my friends got for free or for a lot cheaper than they're selling it for. Take the beds for example: these beds they've had for over a year they wrote down that they have had them for only two months and that they were hardly used. Why not just be honest and say that you've had them for about a year and that they're in good condition and not lie about it? They also got three power wheels cars for their kids off a lady that said they were broken for 25 total. Turns out there was just a problem with a cord and each one cost my friend five dollars per toy to fix it. Then they sold them for 75, 100 and 125 stating that was how much they paid for them. And it's not like they need the money, they have a combined income of well over 125,000....and cheat the system....the state pays to feed their three kids. I think that's what pisses me off the most. Instead of feeding their kids they're constantly out buying stuff.

It has really strained our friendship it has going to the point that I tell SO not to invite them camping or boating with us because I don't want to hear what they have bought or how much money they made off of something they sold that they paid a small amount for.

Re: Some people....

  • I had a friend that was similar. She didn't have kids, but worked part time while her husband worked two jobs to pay for her lifestyle. I was stupid and asked her to be in my wedding. When we went to get bridesmaids dresses, she said she didn't have the money. As the wedding grew nearer she couldn't attend xyz event because she doesn't have the money. All this time, she moved into a expensive apartment, bought two dogs, a computer and a car.

I'm with you that it shouldn't be any of my businesses, but it certainly put a strain on our relationship. I ended our friendship because it was too much trying to watch her "keep up with the Joneses."
