My poor little man was diagnosed with reflux at an ENT Specialist a few days ago. Poor guy has irritation in his esophagus from stomach acid. He's been spitting up a few times after most feedings and has been crying a lot ever since he was a few days old. He is 5 weeks now. Not sure if any of his symptoms are also due to oversupply issues still block nursing or milk sensitivity still not eating dairy or soy. I hope he feels better soon!

Question how long did it take for your LO to improve on Pepcid? Our doc said a few weeks but I am hoping sooner.

Thanks!!! I think I noticed a little improvement already but it's hard to tell. Is your son 100 percent better it does he still spit up and cry?

I actually just posted about this to BandEddie.. DS took/takes about 7-10 days to notice the adjustment in his meds.. and, like PP said, it's usually progressive.. we will see things start to get a little better here and there, but usually by 10 days, there's a distinct difference.

DS is on Omeprazole (Prilosec) and it's been working well for him.  Taste is very sweet, as DS never has a problem.  We give him 3mL BID.  We've found it's easiest to squirt the 3mL into the nipple of his bottle and let him suck it out that way he's sure to get all of it, and not accidentally spit some out when I put it in his cheek.

We are on Zantac and have been since around 2 months, along with Soy formula. DD went from spitting up I hate calling it throwing up because it wasn't ever that just a ton of spit up about every 15 mins to maybe 1 time every 60.

I know you don't want to hear this but now at almost 7 months things are just improving to the point where she would almost seem "reflux free." I think a lot has to do with introducing solids and her siting upright more.

Something that ended up helping with us was adding rice cereal to her bottles at an early age, I would think like 3 months. The pedi suggested and that helped. Good luck! Having a reflux baby is extra work and extra laundry hehe.

Right!! I see posts where new moms talk about how much they love to wash and fold their baby's tiny clothes. I'm all like, "you must not have a reflux baby."

We did the rice cereal, too -- ped had us start that at 2 months!  Definitely helps.  DS has silent reflux, so though he spits up more now, in the beginning it was more just the absolute WAILING for no reason that was the indicator for us.  Also, try and hold them upright for 30 minutes after feeding.. and don't "work" too hard for a burp.. DS was a terrible burper.. we would try for like 30 minutes to get a burp.. pat, pat, patting away on his back.. it was later when I mentioned this to the Ped that she actually said that could make his reflux worse.. the more you pat, the more you're sloshing around the milk in his belly causing more reflux   Gosh, we felt so awful!
