Baby Names

Too rhyme-y??

So, I'm not pregnant yet, but thinking about names all the same. DD1 is Eliza, and I've recently fallen in love with the name Luisa (Loo-y-sa).

So, what do you think? Eliza and Luisa - too rhyme-y??

Re: Too rhyme-y??

  • Unless I'm pronouncing them wrong, they don't actually rhyme, do they? I think they make a good sibset!
  • They don't rhyme, but the fact that they both end in -ah makes them slightly matchy. It doesn't bother me too much, personally.

  • I get what you are saying, OP.

They sort of fall into what I think would be considered a slant rhyme or a half rhyme.  It would probably bother me, but I think that I am in the minority.

  • A little matchy, but it's not awful.
  • They don't rhyme.  They have a similar flavor, so in some ways they work well together.  It's still a bit of a mouthful if you say them back to back, but it wouldn't be weird as a sibset.

  • I don't think they're too sing-songy (which is I think what you meant by rhymey)
