U/S for AF and DH Update

I got my results back from the U/S, blood work and biopsies and everything looks OK thankfully. My Dr referred me to a Gyn to resolve the AF issues. I have had it now for 3 weeks straight which is even worse than my twice a month. The Dr was talking about doing a D & C or endometrial ablation but the latter would definitely make me one and done. I am not ready to make a 100% commitment to this yet. I guess I will find out on the 3rd what the Gyn recommends.

In the meantime, DH has re-started his counseling and will begin meetings very soon including an intensive out patient Tx in January.

Things are definitely looking up but now I need to get my health back on track. I am still suffering from severe inflammation in my ribs and spine and I picked up my SIL's crappy respiratory virus.  I am working with my Drs to get this under control and I am hoping the new year brings a lot of positive changes for our family. It has been a crappy 2nd half of 2012 with the exception of seeing DS grow and having him in our life.

ETA: I re-read this post and it really sounds like a downer. I am actually very pleased thankful that things are getting much better! Big Smile

  • So happy for good results but am sorry to hear that there are no easy fix options. When I was having similar issues, my dr and I opted to let my body do its thing. I bled for what felt like forever (around 4 weeks) and they monitored me every week. The only reason she allowed that at the time was because I had stopped passing huge clots and they were treating my anemia. I don't know if that is a feasible option for you at this time but I wanted to share. It sucked and I actually had that happen several times but eventually my body figured itself out and stopped all that madness. They never figured out what was going on... GL and I hope you do what is best for you!!!

Thanks for sharing this with me! This makes me feel like it may resolve itself without having to go the ablation route and I will be keeping my fingers crossed that the Gyn doesn't want to do anything too drastic.

Thanks everyone for the kind words as I always appreciate your support. Things are definitely looking up and I just need to resolve the last of my health issues then everything should be back to normal (in a really good way).

  • Sorry to hear you've been having a rough time. I'm not sure what all your background is but, FWIW my periods were all messed up pp and I bled for almost 9 month straight we tried all sorts of hormonal therapy & nothing worked. I finally had a D&C the end of October and so far everything seems to be back to normal (knock on wood) so it's definitely worth a try before you do something like an ablation.

     Good luck with your appointment.

    Yes, all of this!

While your DH is away, can you get some help from relatives or friends with your DS?

  • I hope your gyn has an easy and noncomplicated solution for you. Hang in there, smit. I am rooting for you.
