Quick question:
After watching Charlie Brown's Christmas last night my husband has decided that he wants to put the name Violet at the top of our short list. At first I thought it was a great suggestion - it is an older name and very pretty which is our style.
But this morning I realized it is a also a flower name like our first daughter, Lily. I told my husband that I didn't want a flower theme. He didn't agree. His logic was this: "our daughter is named after his grandmother not the flower. So it is not a flower theme".
So opinions: Is Lily and Violet a little to matchy or themey? To help in comparison our son's name is Max. We're obviously very early in the process but I'm interested in folks opinions.
Re: Violet and Lily
The flower thing definitely comes through loud and clear. Whether or not it really matters, I don't know. It is a negative, but not necessarily a reason to rule out the name if you don't have other good options that you both like.
Having Max in there helps.
Yes, too themey.
Whether or not Lily was named after a person, it's still a flower name.
I love Violet, but with sister Lily it would only be a MN option.
This.
They are both beautiful names but I hate themes like that. I knew girls Violet, Lily and Rose, it always eerked me. Sorry.
love love love both names
and yes, the "theme" is obvious, but I wouldn't let it deter you.. especially with Max in the mix.
This.
Also, I would consider whether you think you might have more children. If you have any more girls, would you feel compelled to continue with flower names? I think three would be a bit much. Something to think about.
