It seems like my baby is going through a growth spurt every other week... is that even possible? I keep track of her intake everyday.. Two weeks ago she was eating 10 times a day and taking in about 34 or more oz. She was fussy as all get out, especially at her bottle, and waking multiple times a night. Last week she was back to normal, only eating 8 to 9 times a day and taking in about 28 oz, STTN. This week is a mimic of two weeks ago. I have an oversupply so I'm keeping up, but man is she unhappy. I know it's normal.
Is it possible for them to have growth spurts every other week? She's a little over 6 months.
I EP by the way.
Re: growth spurt??
I mean when you get down to it the whole first YEAR is a giant growth spurt.
If you have over supply maybe she's not getting enough fatty milk? Then she doesn't stay satisfied for as long?
Well, I always pump until my milk stops flowing for at least 5 min...
The milk looks really, really fatty. There's a really thick layer that gets stuck to her bottles in the fridge... Her poop is usually normal looking also.
Weird. I fall back to my default position: Everything is a phase and babies are weird
If you haven't started solids yet, maybe it's time to start?
I wouldn't over think it - just like we do, sometimes babies are hungrier than others! It could be a growth spurt, could be a more active week, could just be...anything! Teething is another possibility - some babies will want to suck more with teething; others refuse to eat. And certainly that will cause waking.
As long as you are following her cues while feeding, I think you are fine.
