Hi all,
I will most likely continue to lurk a bit more but wanted to say hi. I'm 28 and a full-time working mom of a very active 15 month old boy. DH and I started our TTC journey back in 2009 and ended up going through a fertility specialist in 2010 for unexplained anovulation. After our first loss in November 2010, we became pregnant with DS in January 2011. DS kept us on our toes and came to meet us a bit earlier than expected, just shy of 36 weeks due to the help of some bedrest and nifedipine.
I had our 1st OB appointment this morning and my pregnancy was officially deemed high-risk. We kind of expected this (but not everything else that is going along with it). With DS, I had PTL and was placed on bedrest at 32 weeks. I was in and out of the hospital 3 or 4 times with PTL which we were able to control with magnesium and nifedipine until he was born just shy of 36 weeks. He was born healthy but has had 3 hernia repairs (2 at 2months and 1 at 4months) and is now a healthy, active 15 mo old.
My dr's plan of action is to begin progesterone IM injections weekly from 16-36 weeks (as I was 4cm dilated and 100% effaced at 32 weeks last time) and to cut my work hours in half starting in 3rd tri as well as more frequent check-ups. I'm currently just shy of 8 weeks so I have a little ways to go before this gets all too real...
I look forward to learning more from you all as well as having an extra support system of people who understand this complicated journey.
Re: officially deemed high-risk and quick intro
For me the biggest thing wa avoiding bed rest and giving myself the best chance at a normal pregnancy because I couldn't imagine not being able to care for my daughter.
Good luck and I hope this time is easier
