To my knowledge only the Orbit seat will do this. At the price of 1 of those seats with an extra base, you are probably just better off getting 2 seats. You are not going to want to be uninstalling and reinstalling a convertible often and honestly, I wouldn't want to be moving a 20 lb seat between cars often. No way I would do it with my kid in the seat. Way too heavy.

Convertible car seats stay in the car. if you want to move between cars, you have to move the entire seat. The only seat I can think of that might be like this would be the Gaco Smart Seat.
Off the top of my head, I know that the Graco Smart Seat and the Orbit Baby Toddler Seat can both be used with removable bases. They are both more expensive than buying 2 more affordable seats though especially when you consider the price of additional bases.

There are a few options that I've seen, but they are pricey. Graco Smart Seat $$ and the Orbit toddler seat ($$$ +base separately) have the ability to come off the base. The practical thing to do is to buy a car seat for each vehicle, because there is no such things as a universal fit. Convertible seats are much heavier, bulkier and are more challenging to install than the infant seats.
