I came up with this list all by myself of what thread titles might look like on a Baby Names board dominated by men. I had intentions of getting all photoshoppy on it and making it look like an actual message board, but then I remembered I have a job and a small child.
Brother named his son Optimus! So mad he stole our name!
Girl names: Is Samus too unoriginal?
Kobe vs. LeBron? Or maybe just go with Jordan? Is that too old school?
Boys are Mario and Luigi but my wife hates Peach for our upcoming girl. Help!
Sansa or Arya? WDYT?
We?ve got it! Our boy will be named Nintendo Power
We live in New England, but I love Manning for a boy name. Am I out of luck?
Is Masterchief becoming less popular?
Glados: Are alternate spellings ok?
Too many Optimuses! Is Rodimus a good second choice? (HotRod for a NN, of course)
Logan or Hunter
Selina Kyle is kickass
Wife likes Colt, I prefer Kolt. Maybe Wesson instead?
Lambeau for a girl?
I love Bruce, but it?s really common. Should I go with Wayne Bruce instead?
Jameson, Jack, Morgan, or Bailey? WDYT?
Presenting Lightning Cortana Jones!
Is every baby girl named Mila?
Lou Holtz, or just Holtz?
Re: If Men Named Babies
I've seen half these names on here already.
You missed Espn. Pronounced Espen.
Eta. I have suggested Bruce Wayne several times. Sadly we know a douche named Bruce so it's a no go.
Haha these are great.
If I let DH name our DD she would have been Chaston Link- not sure where this came from.
Pretty sure if he had his way for DS's name it would have been Steve Spurrier.
What's the Star Wars name? Or is it a secret?
My middle name and my fathers middle name are both Wayne.
If we were having a boy, I would have tried like hell to name him Bruce. It's a family name yo!
Dash Rendar is the SW name. It is from the books.
This was a real conversation I had with my wife, btw.
She didn't approve.
Although his taste in music ia great, IMO, his taste in names sucks more than Nickelback.
Avery - 8.2.07 | Asher - 5.12.10 | Audrey - 11.28.12
No, my son is a Star Wars name too. His name is Cade Liam. Cade is from a later series in the Star Wars universe. Liam I won because DH love Liam Neason who play Qui Gon Gin. If DS was a girl then her name would of been Mara Jade (also SW name).
Why not Hannah then?
When H and I were young and dating to give all of our kids historical names. Like Sam Adams or George Washington.
Nana said "If I let DH name my son his name would be Dash Rendar. It's bad enough this kid will have a Star Wars name, let alone THAT one." Doesn't that mean the kid will have a star wars name but not Dash Rendar?
I can't get the ticker to work, but I have two sons:
Baby RJ, born 1/25/2014
Formerly Twilightmv
See explanation above.
I like all of those - at least he chose cool Star Wars names!
I think every 3 kids here in Knoxville are named Peyton (boy) or Payton (girl).
Lol, it was a tough process actually. He is very weird and I am very strict with names. That is what we could agree on. If the next kid is a boy we are screwed. I want Ewan to be in the next boy name, DH is still pushing for Dash Rendar.
Reading fail on my part.
No joke, this is how we came up with our daughters name, courtesy of my geek husband -
It's cool, I've misread and mistyped a few posts today so I really thought I was going crazy when I reread it and it seemed logical to me! I was 90% sure I forgot my brain at home this morning.
I love this. I hate standardized naming conventions now (besides the obvious benefits of easy identification of course). I miss the days of Empire.local domain, Palpatine was Domain Controller 1, Vader as Domain Controller 2, my Exchange server was TradeFed, and it was all glorious.
I now have an idea for my home lab. Thx Parenting!
You mean awesome family.
Siggy check.
I totally forgot to work cars and car parts onto my list.
Other fun facts: NASCAR inspired names are really boring. NASCAR drivers all almost all men with two first names or last names like Johnson. Also, there aren't many names you can legitimately try to make out of beer names.
and his two kids, Walker and Texas Ranger.
That''s a pretty badass name.
Sadly, Nathan is already spoken for in my social circle.
::gigglesnort::
FUNNY.
If my DH would have gotten his way, DS's name would have been spelled Jaksyn.
I posted that shizz on Baby Names just to show him the responses so he would believe me that no one in the world thinks that's a good idea. I got my way on traditional spelling, praise the little baby Jesus!
Mara Jade is my favourite female character! Good choice!
So, Kaylee, River, Zoe or Inara?
I'm guessing the top two were Kaylee and Zoe.
LOL.
Did you tell him, "I can't go for that. No. No. No can do."
