Dream feed?

Does anyone feed baby before you go to bed? As in baby is asleep already but you feed them anyway? Does it extend their sleep? I put LO down around 8 and she wakes at 12 to eat, if I fed her before I go to sleep, say at 10 do you think this would push out her sleeping until 2 or so? Just trying to figure all this out. Thanks!

Re: Dream feed?

  • We do one! He goes down for his 'first stretch' anywhere from 810, and we do a dream feed at about 12. He sleeps anywhere from 56 hours after that. My pedi suggested going without one, and we tried it for one night, but no dice, lol.

  • I do on weekends.  During the week, she goes down around 8 and I go to bed around 10.  On the weekends, we stay up later, until 12 or so.  So I go ahead and dream feed on the weekends.  Hmm, maybe that's why she wakes up at 12 during the week.  Oops, perhaps I should re-think.

haha! but you have a good point, what if I start doing it at 10 and she starts to expect it and wakes up for it? gah! there is no easy way with nursing, is there? I need to suck it up I think and just wake up every 2 hrs for the next year, LOL

  • Never helped us, the only way for us to extend sleep is to feed more often all day.
