Away for two days...should I be worried?

DS is 15 months old and still nurses quite a bit throughout the day (I'm a SAHM). I am going out of town without him for a weekend next month so I'll be busy trying to pump some sort of supply because he refuses any other milk. DH thinks this will be a great time to wean him, but I don't know if he's ready for that. He still comfort nurses a lot.

So I've never been away from him overnight, let alone for two days. Could he wean himself within that time frame? I want to be prepared if I come home and he doesn't want to BF anymore. Am I overreacting?

  • Time will tell. Pump so you're not uncomfortable and don't have a drop in supply. It's unlikely for a human to naturally wean prior to age 2. If he does refuse the breast, keep offering it's not weaning, it's a nursing strike.

As for your DH, educate him on the benefits of full term nursing.
