Wish I thought of this sooner

So Lo is ebf I've started introducing some soild that I let him self feed. He's just over six months. I sometimes want breast milk to thin things like mashed potatoes for him. I've also wanted some bm to start sippy cups but I hate pumping so I haven't wanted to thaw a whole bag for an ounce. Well my great new plan is to freeze bm in icecube trays then put it into a ziplock bag so I can use one at a time.
I'm sure others have thought of this before but I'm just happy I've finally figured it out.

I would've never thought of that! Is it ok that it's in the open and not in a bag/container?

I just leave it in the icecube tray until its frozen an hour or two then put the cubes into a ziplock bag, I guess you could cover it in plastic wrapped if your worried.

This is brilliant! I was trying to come up with a way to freeze in 1 oz. I hated the thought of using storage bags for so little milk. I want them so she can be topped off if necessary.

That's a great idea! How will you thaw it? Just put it in a small container in the fridge?

hey make covered ice cube trays for this use, as well as thin, long ice cube trays, so the cubes will slide into a bottle easier.nbsp; When you seal the ice cubes in a ziplock bag you will want to get all the air out as possible or ice crystals may form on them.nbsp;

I'd think if you want to store 1 oz cubes for longer than a month you may want to put them into a sealing bag that sucks the air out ziplock or food saver etc.

Why anymore so than freezing in a normal bag??
