Paci users come on in!

Here at our house we call it a bink! DD really has a strong need/desire to suck. She really likes her bink! That being said sometimes she spits it out and then gets up set because its out! It happens a fair amount at night sometimes. Do your little ones spit theirs out? Do they sleep with it in? And just for fun what do you all call it?

Re: Paci users come on in!

  • DS spits his paci out occasionally. If he does it at night he finds his hand to suck on.

DS uses his paci to go down for all naps and bed time

We call it a paci, my MIL calls it a ninny and my mom calls it a soothie. It will prolly confuse DS later but for now it works.

Do you swaddle for bed? We are still swaddling and because of that she can't suck in her hands in replacement... Although coming to think of it even when she is just hanging out she spits it out and can't soothe with her hands. She will suck on then for a minute but then start to fuss. Little stinker!

  • We call it a binky. He use uses it right after a feeding when he's drifting off to sleep and needs to suck. He spits it when he's really fussy and fighting sleep. During the night really only needs it after a feeding...our after a wakeful moment

  • We call it Chunky Monkey because we have a money pacifier clip attached to it.

DS uses it to fall asleep.  After he's asleep, it does fall out but DS usually stays asleep.  He also likes to suck on Chunky Monkey when he's in his swing or carseat.

  • DD sleeps with it.

It falls out more than she spits it out. We call it a paci most of the time.

  • Ours is the binky. She loves it. She will wake up and need it in the middle of the night. She looooves it. I almost wish she didn't. Dax never absolutely needed his. She neeeds hers.

We don't swaddle for bed any more. DS broke out of it consistently around 12ish weeks so he has been unswaddled since then. His hands are always in his mouth if his paci isn't so he has learned to be pretty good at soothing.

  • Jayson loses his when he smiles, or he just spits it out to start babbling. At sometimes before he falls to sleep completely I have to put it back in his mouth a few times until he falls asleep. Sometimes he wants to suck on his hands instead, but usually he wants the paci.

We call it his paci. I call my niece's her stinky binky lol.

  • He spits it out all of the time. I bought one of those clips to fix that.

He goes to sleep with it in, it falls out while he's sleeping, he doesn't wake up.

We call it a pacifier or a choupon, which means pacifier in Spanish. I hate the term "paci" because to me, it sounds like "p****." TB is going to censor that, but it's another term for vagina and rhymes with...kussy? I made that word up.

I bought a clip, and it totally backfired. He grabs it's, and rips the freakin pacifier right out of his mouth.

  • DS spits it out then sucks on his hands. I put it back in because he is so loud when he sucks on his hands. He starts out with it at night but when he's knocked out it comes out if his mouth and he's fine. When he does his usual 3 am wake up, I put it back in and he goes back to sleep within 30 min. I call it his paci.

  • We call it a binky. DS uses it most of the time, but spits it out when he smiles or "talks." He sleeps with it but if it falls out, he begins to stir unless he's in deep sleep, so I have to put it back in.

  • I just call it a pacifier.

Ds spits it out in the MOTN but he doesn't care. I think he needs it to fall asleep, but doesn't need it to stay asleep.

  • She uses hers at the beginning of a car ride or sometimes when we are out shopping. Also before bed and sometimes when she is upset, it makes her feel better to have it. She spits it out when she smiles or talks. When she was younger she's rip it out and then get mad like you stole it from her lol Now when it falls out now she usually doesn't mind.

My family calls it a Dummy (I had one when I was little... and still slept with it when I was 4 or 5 lol but wasn't allowed to have it out of bed). Some of my family calls it a Soother. DH's family calls it a Soose or SooSoo.

I guess we mostly call it a Soother. Though I do say Dummy just from habit of hearing my family. Never a Soose...it sounds weird to me. lol

  • We use one, we call it a binky.  He doesn't need it to fall asleep, and he never uses it to fall asleep at night.  But I give it to him to nap because it helps him calm down if he is fussy, I'm not sure what they do at day care.  He also likes it in the car.  It falls out when he smiles or talks and he's fine.  When it falls out while he's sleeping, it doesn't phase him.

This week he's been really sick so it has been in his mouth 24/7.  (we've been swapping them out with clean ones a few times a day so he doesn't re-contaminate himself).

  • We call it Paci, bug plug or just plug (we call our LO our little bug).  She uses it to sleep sometimes, but its not always needed.  She doesn't wake up crying for it in the middle of the night or anything but it certainly helps her get down some days when she's finished eating but still wants to suck on something.

she also sucks on her hands a lot, but more so when shes awake or just waking up.

  • Jacqueline uses her soother in the car and for most naps an when going down for the night. She rarely drops it during naps but when she's sleeping she will fall asleep completely and it will fall out and she just keeps sleeping.

We call it a soother to her, and when we are asking where it is we either say soother or pacifier. Others say suckie or soosie or binkie - which I dislike...but whatever.

The home health nurse told us that it's fine to coo and what-not and use various tons when talking to DD because the difference in tones are interesting to her, but to consider calling things by there real names like soother or pacifier and blanket and bottle.

Also, she spits it out quite often in her carseat, and cries and complains because its been dropped, but we can generally get it back in quick enough so she doesn't have a meltdown.
