I've tried both cereal and oatmeal (Earth's Best), and it doesn't sit well with DD2, so I've skipped it all together. She currently gets a jar of fruit in the morning, and a jar of veggie at night. However, I think she is ready to add in a third meal. Usually I would do cereal/oatmeal + fruit in the morning, veggie + fruit in the afternoon, and cereal/oatmeal + veggie at night, if she was getting cereal. Because she isn't getting it, I'm stumped as to what to give her for lunch. I was introducing table food at this stage in the game with DD, but I'm too scared to try with DD2 because of her reactions to certain foods (cereal/oatmeal/peas/carrots).
A couple questions...
If your LO had a reaction to certain foods, did you ever re-introduce them with success?
If your still doing purees, what do you feed your LO at certain times of the day?
If you've introduced table food, what did you start with?
Sorry this post is so wordy....I hope it makes sense!
Re: Did anyone skip cereal/oatmeal b/c LO couldn't tolerate it? And a solids question.
At this stage DS was not only on table foods but started to wean from BM. So I understand your troubles.
DD only gets 2 jars of food a day -- be that's because she just does not seem very interested. I personally don't worry about fruit in the morning vs. veggie at night. But in your case I might do a fruit/ veggie mix for lunch.
She reacted to rice cereal in the begining but she has eaten rice that I cook myself without issues since then. We don't do cereals.. but DS LOVES oatmeal so i might start making his with almond milk and letting her taste some in the mornings. DD is allergic to dairy, egg and peanut (at least those are what she tested positive for so far).
I plan on trying to really cook with her in mind starting next week and try feeding her from my plate like I used to with DS and see if that will help get her a little more interested. You can't live on the edge forever is what I realized. just move forward and be prepared if there happens to be a reaction.
Good luck
