Trying to Get Pregnant

*rora and/or cs*

Please tell me why Minnesota thinks cheese fries are french fries with shredded cheese just melted on top in an oven or microwave?

When I order cheese fries, I want gooey, melted cheese sauce smothered over greasy french fries.. not dry, tasteless shredded cheese thrown on top of fries.

I prefer Tillamook Cheddar melted on top of my fries.

If it doesn't look like this:

    image

I don't want it on my fries.

  • Cheese fries require real melted cheese, preferrably something like cheddar jack and bacon.  Also ranch for dipping.   If I wanted crappy cheese sauce I'd order nachos at a movie theatre.

I prefer for you not to talk about Tillamook Cheddar.

Is there something better that I should try?  I don't discriminate when it comes to cheese.  I'm not only a hoar but I'm also a cheese-digger.  I'll leave one if there's something better that comes along.

Absolutely not. Tillamook is amazing but hard to find here. It makes me want to cry.

    Yes

I have only been able to find it at Johnny Rocket's around here.  :(

mmm Johnny Rocket's. I haven't been there forever, but now I want a vanilla shake!

Define your version of melted cheese. Does it harden and get dry and crusty if you don't eat the fries in record time? because that's the only "melted cheese" I've experienced here. Even with bacon on top, shiit just flakes off and is gross, fries break off and you're left with cheeseless fries and some heaping pile of dry, nasty cheese.

I'm with you Shay. Here in Wisco, cheese fries are like what you describe. It is not nacho cheese, it is cheddar cheese. Big taste difference. And now it is noon. Coincidence? I think not. Nomnom.

Thank you! It sounds like I need to go to Wisconsin for my cheese fries needs, cause these people are insane! Big Smile  It's not the same as nacho cheese, it's better than that, and it belongs on my fries.  You can definitely still have bacon, onions, ranch, etc - you just have the added benefit of non dry and flaky cheese.

Yes, that is a good differentiator. It isn't spicy. I'm in Chicago. They have this cheese at hot dog stands, diners, places like this. Now that I think about it, hot dog stands always get it right. Yum!

I don't think I've ever had cheese fries. Because while I am from MN. I do not have MN tastes. I like spice and flavor. Where do you get these sub-par cheese fries?

I miss the greek fries they used to have at the Xcel Center. Those were masterful.

You can find the sub-par cheese fries anywhere in MN. I haven't found a place that does them the good way. Even Sonic (I was desperate), who had cheese sauce listed on their website, just threw some shredded cheese on top of the fries and sent me on my way.

I bet you do love it hard.

Gag at the dry cheese though. I bet you scrape it off the plate and eat it, too!

If the cheese stays gooey throughout my enjoyment of the fries, I'm cool with it not being cheese sauce. Once it turns into dry crusty.. blech.

  • Lurking ...

Well, because I live in Chicago, and I know what cheese fries should be. (And I'm sorry you can't find any, I actually hurt for you!) I wish I could send you some from Al's Italian Beef, their cheese sauce is to die for. And those that haven't had the real thing, and think melted cheese is where it's at, do not know what they are missing.

I'm not sure where you are in Minnesota, but there looks to be three locations of this: https://www.chrisandrobs.com/ ... And it looks to me as if they have the real deal when it comes to cheese fries.

    Good luck in your search!
