Follie Scan #3: disappointing

My lining was 12.5 (I think this is really good?)

Right Ovary:

25.2-lead follie that is over mature 

16.2, 13.5, 14.4

Left Ovary:

12.8, 13.8, 15.25, 16.6, 13.9, 11.8

I was hoping and planning for retrieval on Thursday which is a no go now as I knew before she said it that I wouldn't be ready.  The nurse seemed really positive that I would be ready to trigger tomorrow night, but it seems my follies are growing less than 1mm a night so I don't think I will be ready tomorrow either.  Anyway, we are shooting for Friday.  The good news is I was able to reschedule DS's surgery for the 19th so it wont be too much stress trying to fit it in between ER and ET.  This waiting is killing me I am so DONE with these shots, but at least tomorrow is another scan so I will know more except that it is costing me an additional $300 each visit.

 

Also, I am dissapointed with only 9 follies.  I really wanted to have more for some back ups and hopefully some to freeze if this doesn't work the first time or for baby #3.....maybe they will find more on ER day.

Sorry to hear it didn't go as expected, that is always a big fat bummer.  Where did that 25.2 come from?  Talk about a whopper!  That lining is really good.  I asked the u/s tech this morning if it can be too thick and she said "no."  I know anything over 7 or 8 is good, so you're in great shape there!

The good news is that the rest are all close in size and should be mature at trigger, and that's what you need to focus on right now.  Even better news is that you might be lucky enough to trigger with me tomorrow! 

Seriously though, I think you're doing great, and believe me, I feel your pain about being done with stims.  We're almost there, just one more night (hopefully).  

BTW, I think 9 is a really good number, and based on how my last cycle went, I realize it doesn't matter how many you have (I retrieved 12) if they aren't any good (out of 10 fertilized, only 5 were any good at 5dt, put 3 back, ended up with a singleton, and had none to freeze).  So,since the quantity is clearly good enough, it's time to focus on quality.

I'm waiting to hear back from my nurse with my labs and instructions, and then I'll post my update, but FX, she seems to think I'll get to trigger tomorrow!

I may be triggering tomorrow too! My next appt is tomorrow. I will probably only have about 9 to10 follies also, which freaked me out. My Dr assured me it was fine. I want some backups to freeze too, but I really REALLY hope I don't need them. Good luck to you! Can't wait to hear another update. :

Thanks ladies, I know I should be thankful for 9 from reading the IF board.  Hopefully, at retrieval they might find an extra one or 2!  Or a couple of the smaller ones will catch up!

This is like a triathlon and I am ready to move to the second part!  I know yall are with me!  We can finish this race and  hopefully win!

I think quality over quantity. I know people who have 15 eggs and get one good one. Personally I think it seems better when you produce fewer but better.

While I haven't done IVF, I totally sympathize with disappointing follie checks that mean at least another night of injections and another office visit fee.  I hope you see great progress at your next check!
