Powerball is up to $425 million.  If you won, what would you do with your winnings?

We live in Chicago and are trapped in our 2 bedroom condo since we will take a huge hit if we sell.  If we won, we would love to buy a big house in Chicago rather than move to the suburbs. I absolutely HATE driving so I would also hire a driver to take me wherever I want to go.

I'd donate $1mil to charity (standard answer, right?!), buy a house and rent out our condo, payoff debt, tuition for my kid(s) and payoff debt for my parents and siblings.

We would help out family, buy a house, travel...the standard sort of answers. I'm sure we would donate some to charity as well. Maybe give some to the University where we met.

I would also buy myself new clothes. I've been a poor student for a while so that would be a nice splurge.

We'd both quit, buy a new house and cars.  I'd want to give some to family and some to our church.  Then I'd take some and do some self financed research in my field in areas that I am interested in.

First thing I would do is change my number, and file a restraining order against my MIL. 

 And then do all of the standard answers:  buy a house, give to charity, quit job, help out family/friends who have been there for us.

Pay off DH's car, renovate our house, pay off my parents' house/property, get MIL a decent therapist, buy a new wardrobe, invest in rental property, and open a savings account for ds.

Also I would hire a maid to clean my house every week.

Yeah, I've thought about this a lot. Lol.

Build dream house
Pay for my parents to move back to Ontario
Ensure Jacqueline could go to school wherever and whenever and for however long
Help Family
Be the main sponsor of a very close friends' Raceteam. They can only ever run a parttime schedule because of the money and they can only work on the racecar in their home garage...so we would give them a place to store it, buy a nice truck and proper trailer and have it wrapped for the team, all the tools needed and the funds to race whenever they wanted.
Put a significant amount away (in Tax Free savings accounts!)
Donate to various charities
Buy dream vehicles
New clothes for all
Pay off debts of family members
Travel alone, with Jacqueline and with Family.

The highest lottery here is Lotto Max when it gets to $50 Million...all of what we want to do can be done multiple times with that...so an insane PowerBall win would be crazy...

I'd buy a house in Rogers Park that's east of Sheridan so I'd not even have to cross any streets to get to the lake.

Then I would travel. I'd go back to brazil and have FIL watch Howie while we go to Paratay for a couple days which is on the ocean. I'd also go back to Paris and all over Europe.

I'd make a huge fund for Howie for college.

Buy a house. Nothing too crazy. Maybe 4 bedrooms, 2 new cars for me and SO, put away a big chunk for DS when he's older. I'd go to college. Buy my dad whatever he wanted since he spoiled me for so long. I don't really know what else I'd do.

Buy a house for us. Pay off student loans/cars/credit cards. Put a few million away for DS and at least one million for his education. Buy SO's parents a house. Buy my grandma a house and a new car. Put a few million away for SO's little brother. Save the rest. Oh and only work when I need the escape, hire a housekeeper and a gardener, take a few trips overseas.

If I won the lottery here I'd give some to my parents, my brother, my sister and some to the humane society. I'm a sucker for dogs.

Then I'd sell our current house and buy our dream house, buy better vehicles and set up some bank account stuff for the boys. I'd invest some and save the rest. I'd still want to work part time.

New house - not a castle or anything... but big, like 4 or 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms kind of big. Probably buy a new car or 2 (again, modest and functional). Pay off all debt. Vacation with just DH & kids and travel to see family. College funds. Maybe go back to college myself. Probably quit my job. Love my job but only work 20 hours a week and commute is 2 hours both ways.

I'd pay off the cars, house, buy new house, pay my parents for paying for my school, buy my dad a truck, have DH quit work to be a SAHD, go on a world vacation, buy a house in Cabo, save half of it for investments and DS college fund, and whatever is leftover will go to cancer research.

With 425 mil I'm pretty sure you could cover insurance without a job offering benefits.
