TTC After a Loss

Question about Progesterone/problems with implantation

Each month, I seem to see the faintest of faint second lines, then get my period the next day. My m/c was also very early.

I've been looking into progesterone, and it seems like this is my problem- maybe each month we are getting a fertilized egg, but it's just not implanting well?

is anyone using progesterone for this reason? Any other ideas about this problem?

Re: Question about Progesterone/problems with implantation

  • I think that you should talk to your doctor about this. It isn't uncommon to start progesterone once you have a confirmed O but you shouldn't self diagnor or self-medicate. If I were you, I'd set up an apointment with your ob/gyn to discuss your concerns and look at your options.

  • Sorry-- I should have clarified-- I have an appt with my OB this afternoon to go over options, and I just want to have some background info on possibilities before she starts throwing technical terms at me :)

  • If you are getting faint lines on HPTs, it sounds like you are experiencing chemical pregnancies.  Have you had an RPL panel done?

There could be a number of causes for repeated chemical pregnancies...unfortunately, I'm not well-versed in most of them since I've tested negative for all of them.  Progesterone could be an issue, and that's simple enough to test.  Mine was only low one out of my 4 treated cycles (all which ended with chemical pregnancies), so I would recommend requesting an RPL panel as well, because there could be other factors at play here.

I'm sorry you are experiencing this.

    PAIF/SAIF, PGAL/PAL welcome.
TTC since March 2010 ~ Dx Unexplained IF September 2011
    2011: IUI + Clomid = CP#1
2012: 3 more IUIs + Clomid = 3 more CPs. One on-our-own pg, also CP
    2013: BTB IUI + Lupron/Follistim/Prometrium/PIO = CP #6
IF testing, RPL testing, Autoimmune testing = all normal
    So lost.
