Has anybody switched over yet? My dd isn't yet at the height or weight limits for her infant carrier, but I hate lugging her around in it. She's starting to be able to sit up on her own. I told myself when she can sit unassisted, I will change over to a convertible seat. Well, I think the time is here, or will be very shortly. I have NO clue about what brand of carseat I want. Both my husband and I have medium SUVs, so size of seat isn't a huge issue. We'll probably buy two seats. I'm thinking I'll get a more economical seat for his car, as she'll primarily ride with me. I don't mind spending for the best, but if I can get something just as good as some of the pricey seats, I would be all about it
What has everybody else selected? Anybody have any recommendations?
Thanks!

Re: Convertible Carseats
We have a Britax Marathon which we have used from birth. I am happy with the seat but there are newer convertible seats coming out in the next few months which look awesome and that I will keep in mind for Baby #2 in the future, like the Chicco NextFit 65 (available in the spring).
You don't have to take LO out of her car seat, and whether she can sit up unassisted has no bearing on whether she's ready for a convertible (as they must, to the best of my knowledge, be reclined). Why not just leave the infant seat in the car, carry LO for now, and buy a convertible when she is closer to having outgrown her infant seat?
Married Bio * BFP Charts
DS1 has a Britax. We got DS2 a Graco that had good ratings. We got both in Target in the clearance and just watched until we found a good deal. If you don't have to move her yet, I would just start watching out for deals and wait until you find one. We have not moved DS2 yet but I rarely take his infant seat out of the car anymore since it is getting so heavy. Unless he is sleeping I just leave it in there clicked into the base and put him straight into it as well as take him right out from there.
I will be getting a britax boulevard. Goes up to 70lbs.

I have been thinking of switching her. Not because of her size (although, she's 19lbs and it's really heavy to carry her!), but because she's been losing her sh!t when I go to put her in the carrier.. But it's winter and I need the convenience of the carrier! Gah.
That said, when I do switch her, I'm going to get a Recaro ProRide. I did a crapton of research and it's just the right car seat for me/our needs/wants.
Ush, I'm so tired of people on TB complaining about heavy carseats. Just because you can take it out doesn't mean you have to. I don't see how a convertible car seat will solve your problem any more than a bucket seat would.
Anyways... we have the MyRide 65 for DD1 and will be buying another for DD2. Great seat for a great price.
Well a sure solution is to reply and add fuel to the fire. ANYWAYS, I don't have my base, as I had to chose very selectively on what items to bring with me on my nearly 5000 mile move. I have to manually fasten her in each and every time I put her in the car, which has been a lot lately.
Anyhow, thanks for the inputs ladies. I have a graco snugride for my infant carrier. I was thinking about the my ride, as I've read some good reviews and I like the price, but I kind of hate my infant seat. I guess I'll browse amazon and Walmart I have gc to both of those places and look for a good deal over the next week.
I actually would rather carry my gigantor baby in the carrier than deal with lugging the baby and toddler around in the rain/wind/cold. It's not exactly convenient to unbuckle and (then rebuckle 5 minutes later) the baby for preschool drop offs. But because the carriers lay back more than the convertibles, is why I'm thinking of switching. The baby has been throwing a sh!tfit everytime I try to put her in the car seat.. I'm hoping I can just deal with it through winter, regardless of how heavy she is!
Personally, I found it more difficult to put DS in and out of his infant carrier when it was in the car, than I ever found it to be once I moved him to a convertible. Perhaps it is because I am short and I was driving a SUV...but I always struggled getting him in and out. Once I moved him over to a convertible it was much easier to put him in and take him out.
DD is actually at a point where she is heavier than DS when she is in the infant seat, not to mention the seat is big and akward to carry. HOWEVER, I leave her in it because I need to be able to set her down when we are walking in the double set of doors at daycare, getting him in to his room, etc. So, I continue to lug her around because of this. I don't know how I will manage daycare drop off & pick up with her not in an infant carrier.
And to answer the original question: I have 2 Britax Boulevard 70CS and 1 Britax Boulevard 70. I love the CS versions...if you are thinking of going for a Britax, I'd spend the extra for the CS. Just my 2 cents...
