When did you lose the majority of your PP weight while BFing?

I have read in a couple of places that moms will lose the majority of their weight during the 3-6 post-patrum timeframe due to the body tapping into fat stores for milk production. I know every woman is different, doesn't lose weight from BFing, etc. BUT, if you are BFing and lost weight, when did you experience the most weight loss?

I gained about 30lbs with DS and have lost 43lbs (I'm almost 6 months postpartum).  I have been at a plateau for about a month and a half, but noticed for no particular reason in the last two weeks I seem to be dropping weight again (have continued to eat healthy and exercise regularly, but no changes in either routine).

TIA!

Re: When did you lose the majority of your PP weight while BFing?

  • My lo is 4 months, and I plateaued as well around 2 months but about two weeks ago I started dropping again. There's a lot of stuff going on in my life though and being back at work is stressful. What I noticed with my first daughter was I gained some of the weight back after the 9 month mark. I didn't mind though since we're going to ttc again and I got pg after dd1 turned 1.

  • I lost an amazing amount in the beginning and was below pre-pregnancy weight. Now I have gained some of it back :/

  • I lost all of my pregnancy weight and an additional 24 pounds in the first six weeks after having the baby. I have probably gained back 5 pounds or so since then - so no additional weight loss, and DS is 5 months old.
  • My DD is 4 1/2 months and I'm just now at my pre-pregnancy weight. I have another 10lbs to get to my ideal weight.
  • I gained 40 lbs when pregnant and lost half of that by 6 weeks post-part.  The other half has been much slower to come off and I was at a plateau from @ 2 months to 3 months.  Now I am slowly losing the rest of the weight and am only @ 12 lbs from my pre-preg weight.  I am not seriously working out to lose the weight so I think if I could find the time to exercise it may come off a little easier
  • I lost most in the first three weeks. I have 8 left that I think is sticking from holidays, Halloween candy and not taking as many walks as I did with my summer dd.

I was five lbs below my pre preg weight at 3 months out with dd1 and that became my new starting weight fir this pregnancy. So I guess I'm only 3 lbs from my normal weight.

I'm also at the bottom of healthy weight for my height, so I'm more concerned with toning this jiggly belly that remains! :

  • Just recently, within the past two -three weeks, I've gotten back to my pp weight, DS is 7.5 months old.

  • I gained 20 lbs with LO and at nearly 6 months PP, I have lost 40. I'm scared to really hardcose lose weight as I'm afraid that it will hurt my supply. Doc says to limit weight loss to about 1 lbs a week.

I think the weight loss is a direct corrrelation to baby's growth patterns. They grow a ton in those first 4 months, then plateau , then a big spurt at 6 months. I hope so anyway. If I could lose 10 more pounds I would be one happy mama :)

I lost weight in the first 2 weeks PP. I have not lost weight at all since then. LO is 6 months old.

This is me too (except LO is only 4 months), so frustrating!

  • I gained 26 lbs and have lost 23 lbs at 2w pp.  however, the final 3-4 lbs aren't coming off.  I had a normal BMI when I got pg, but ideally would like to lose an additional 5 lbs (from fertility drugs).  My problem right now is that I'm CONSTANTLY hungry!  I can't believe how much I eat and I can't seem to curb my appetite.

  • I was back at pre-baby weight at 4 weeks. I'm down about 2-3 lbs from pre-baby weight and LO is almost 5 months old. I think I'm probably at a plateau. I'm trying to get my calorie intake up because I feel like my supply drops if I don't eat enough.

  • I gained 20lbs during pregnancy and lost it all the first week home. And then I lost about a pound a week for the next few weeks.
