i actually do have friends who went through this and are ok now. the wife cheated, the husband found out, they actually separated for a couple years and then went to counseling and got back together. and they really do seem happy now.
i think there's no real precedent for this kind of thing. it's really dependent on the individual couple.
Not sure if there was counseling involved but some friends of mine salvaged their marriage after infidelity...I think?
Sorry I don't have more info or any details. Last I heard/saw they are happy but then again, you never really know what goes on behind closed doors, so to speak.
ETA: Wife cheated, they got back together. Wife cheated again a year or so later (with the same guy). Wife moves in with guy but things don't work out. Wife goes back to Husband. They seem happy. Husband was in denial throughout it all. I hope that Wife is truly happy but I don't really know for sure.
My parents. If by successful, you mean they are still unhappily married and not divorced.
This is the same for my brother and his wife. They had to see many therapists to find one that his cheating wife didn't feel like was blaming her for everything. Even though she was the one not trying to fix the marriage she just didn't want to get divorced and leave the lifestyle my brother afforded her.

Sorry, I am obviously still bitter.
