My son is 17 months and was born with Erb's palsy due to complications at birth. He will be having surgery at Shriners Hospital in Philly in 2 weeks. I am feeling very overwehlmed and nervous about it. He has to have an Anterior Capsule Release surgery in his shoulder. I am trying to connect with any other parents out there that has been through this surgery or this type of injury. He will be in a partial body cast around his tummy with arm bar and arm cast out to the side like the statue of liberty for about 4 weeks followed by a brace for another 4 weeks and I would like to know if anyone has any tips on dealing with a 17 month old in a cast. Any insight or advice would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.
