Special Needs

Vent. Of course it was going too smoothly

Sigh...I was hoping to make it through this pregnancy like a "normal person" but I guess that is not meant to be.  Last time with LA, I developed Gestational hypertension and then of course, with the concerns about her, I had to do all the NSTs and whatnot.

Things have been going to smoothly, so of course that meant I had to freakin fail my 3 hour glucose test and get diagnosed with gestational diabetes.  Are you kidding me?  Now I get to have the "fun" of dealing with all that and reading all the "wonderful" side effects it could have on DD2.

Just want to be "normal!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Re: Vent. Of course it was going too smoothly

  • I had GD with DS1.  It truly was no big deal.  Eat every 2-3 hours.  Count carbs, drink water, exercise.  Test blood.

Bonus: I gained 28lbs during the pregnancy, lost 18lbs in the process of delivery and was back at pre-pregnancy weight at my 6 week pp check up.  Babe was a healthy 8lbs8oz.

    It'll be ok.

promised myself I'd retire when I turned gold, and yet here I am

  • Ugh. Just annoying. I always feel like, "I don't have time to have my own special needs."

You will get through this. Hang in there!

  • I'm sorry that you had this curveball thrown at you. I used to work as a mother baby nurse and the GD babies very rarely had any issues, so don't let Dr. Google scare you.

  • same here. I feel like I really missed out on my pregnanct with DD1 with finding out her DX at 30weeks and being induced. Now I have placenta previa. Ugh
