His days are like clockwork, his nights are always different

WHY?!?!?!?!

Every night is different, he goes to bed at the same time every night but sometimes he'll be up every 3 hours, sometimes he gives me a 4 hour stretch and sometimes he gives me a glorious 6 hours. I can't tell by the days because he's like clockwork during the day, eat, play, nap, repeat.

I'd love to understand.
