biting down

LO is 4 months. He has started to bite down on me while nursing. He doesnt have teeth yet, but it really hurts. What it this? Could he be teething already? I dont see any other signs of teething? He is biting down then sometimes also pulling away with my nipple still in his mouth, this is new! We have never had any kind of latch issues before. Thanks!

My LO started doing this around the same time. I know for sure he's been teething but I'm not sure if that has anything to do with it.. I just started sitting him up and saying "No, that hurts mama" when he would bite down and after a few times he stopped doing it.
