STM+: Is it easier the second time?

We had major issues getting DS to latch (took us 8 weeks), but I think it was more of a mommy error than baby not latching well. We were good after that, although we did have to supplement with formula.

Did you find that your second LO latched easier?  How about bf overall?

I think it's been easier the second time around. I felt more confident in knowing what to do. I also was prepared for all the cluster feeding and growth spurts, so I knew to just go with it and it'd pass in a few days. Like pp, my milk came in quicker with DD2.

Having said all that, I still got help from an LC because I had gotten used to nursing a toddler; nursing a newborn is very different! So it helped to have the LC walk me through proper positioning and latching with DD2.

The second time is SO much easier.  I had the worst time with DS.  There was a lot of crying involved, from both of us.  With DD, we had a great latch from the very first time.  I really think it helped me bond with her more quickly because feeding time was a pleasant experience, not painful and frustrating.

I actually had a much easier time the first time around. DS1 latched like a champ from the beginning and we didn't have a single issue. DS2 had a crappy latch and didn't want to nurse. He had tummy issues and took the bottle horribly when I went back to work too. I do feel like the reason I got through it with the second was because I had confidence from the first, so I'm thankful #2 was harder instead of #1.
