16 week sleep regression

Anyone going through this and want to cry together? DS went from waking once in 12 hours to between 79 times per night this past week. I literally can't see straight. Please tell me it goes away. It has to, right? I don't remember this with my first but it was so long ago...

Re: 16 week sleep regression

  • That should read 7 to 9 times. 79 times I would run away, ha!

  • It's been my deal for the past two weeks. A few weeks ago she slept through the night. Now she's up every couple of hours.

I've tried everything I can think of .... swaddled, unswaddled, she's warm enough, not too warm, fed right before bed, night-light on, night-light off...no idea.

    Yay.

How are you still functioning?! Is he giving you any longer stretches?

  • I got on this morning to post about this. My 10 to 12 hour sleeper has been waking up atleast 2 times to eat for the past 3 days. I know its not a huge number of times to get up but when you are used to sleeping full nights since 10weeks, its an adjustment. Lets just say im dragging major arse.

  • DD has been doing the same thing for almost a week now.  She is pretty much up after she sleeps for one hour.  It doesn't always take that long to get her back down....however, she can't seem to do it herself.

I, too, tried swaddled, unswaddled, white noise, no white noise...didn't matter.  The only ways I can get her back down is to comfort nurse or sometimes rocking her works (but not always).

I am soooo tired and dragging.  At least over Thanksgiving weekend I could take naps with her.  Unfortunately, since it's back to work Monday, I think I'll need a heavy dose of caffeine.

I just hope it doesn't last too long!!!

  • This has been happening with DD for a few weeks now. She was wakes up every hour it seems.

    However, last night, she STTN!

  • I'm with you. She got up 7 times last night! DD has been sleeping like crap for a month now, when previously she would STTN most nights.  I'm lucky if I get an initial 3 hour stretch. When we hit 4 months I don't think her sleep can regress anymore than it already has.
  • My guy isn't napping and is waking about 3 times a night...he is teething and also has a really bad cough (poor guy is on an inhaler now until it clears up) and also is almost 16 weeks so a lot going on right now contributing to it, I think. Ugh you are not alone!

  • We're there right now. He just started pulling his binky out at waking himself up but will cry if we put him down without it.... It's a lose/lost battle at this point.
