Toddler Christmas craft ideas?

This has to be a post and run because I have to get to bed.

I was wondering what kind of crafty things everyone else was doing with their toddlers? I am hoping to come up with enough activities to keep her occupied during the day. We don't have many ornaments and Christmas decorations, so I was thinking that maybe we could start making some, but I am blanking on ideas. I was going to look on pinterest, but those are usually very intimidating.

Help, please!

  • I let ds paint some plain plastic ornaments. He used qtips instead of brushes because I didn't feel like cleaning brushes.
We also did the hand print snowmen ornament . It didn't turn out as cute as the pinterest one, but it is still cute

  • There are a ton of fingerprint ideas on Pinterest.  You could make salt dough ornaments together too.

  • mix equal parts shaving cream and glue together to make fluffy snow paint-- we made snowmen and wintery trees ( we also made sheep to give as gifts last year) DS loved it.

  • My DD is 3 and loves PlayMais (and I love it too because it's pretty much mess-free WOOHOO!). It comes in all sorts of colours and you could easily use it to make Holiday-themed craft.

Finger painting is always a big hit (so long as you don't mind cleaning up after).

I am also planning on making the girls a felt tree to hang on the wall with felt ornaments to stick on it. I don't think I will get them involved in making the ornaments, though. That would require more advanced skills.

Kids love to stick/glue things. You could maybe cut out Christmas tree shapes out of green cardboard and have LO decorate them with whatever you have on hand (foam shapes, glitter, whatever). Then you could string them together to make a garland.

  • We made one of those chain link thingies out of construction paper yesterday, that shows how many days until Christmas. Other than that we'll probably just make a couple of ornaments, and I will involve him somehow with the Santa thing - maybe have him "draw" something and tell him we'll send it to Santa with a letter/list.
  • I bought foam ornaments from Michaels and foam stickers. DS just likes to stick them and pull them off so it's not really a lasting craft, but he had fun and it required no effort on my part.
  • Thanks ladies! So far, we've printed out a few coloring pages and I'm working on cutting out snowflakes. She likes to decorate them. And I'm thinking about making a garland out of construction paper ornament shapes!

  • C will make crayon drawings, and he is painting bird houses and picture frames (cheap wooden ones from walmart).

Oh, and salt dough and crayon ornaments.
