How much soothing

How much soothing do you have to do to get your Lo to sleep?
I am about to lose myeverlovingmInd!
It takes a good half an hour for me to get Lo to sleep and then she only sleeps a half an hour. My back can't take this much longer. I would love to put her down drowsy but she's always super alert. I've only seen her drowsy once and that was when my mom and I were out for lunch and she had been awake for almost three hours!
At home we swaddle, go to her room that's dim and use white noise... on top of the walking, rocking, patting and bouncing that is usually needed.

Re: How much soothing

  • I don't want to jinx myself, but DS usually falls asleep within 20 minutes of having his bath at night. We do a routine of bottle, then bath- complete with mini baby massage with lotion- and then dim lights in the house while rocking with the pacifier for maybe 5 minutes. We've been putting him down drowsy for about a month now, he will suck on his pacifier for awhile and then fall asleep. Some nights we may have to pop it back in his mouth a few times, but usually he's asleep within a few minutes of being put in the PnP. We haven't transitioned to the crib yet. Lately, he's been sleeping 9-4:30am.

During the day, he naps in his swing. Usually takes 2-3 20 minutes cycles of the music and popping the pacifier back in his mouth before he will take a 45 minute nap.

  • I bounce LO to sleep for every nap and nighttime. Its the only way I can get her to fall asleep. I put her in the bouncy chair and use my foot to bounce her. It takes anywhere from 2-15 minutes. I have some seriously developed calf muscles now. Big Smile
