Chloraseptic spray?

I've come down with a vicious cold. While I can blow my nose and deal with sneezing, this sore throat is killing me especially when I swallow. When I first went to visit my doctor she gave me a list of medicines that are okay to use post first trimester and chloraseptic spray was on the list. I'm still wary of taking drugs but desperate times call for desperate measures and I bought a bottle of the CVS brand spray. Do you think it's okay to use? Any lozenges I can use? DH uses Sucrets do we have some at home that look tempting....

salt water gargles have help me with the drippy feeling in the back of my throat, afterwords I drink a cup of hot tea with honey for soothing too. Might be worth a try if you don't want to use meds. Hope you feel better soon

So it was on your safe list but you don't believe it? Confused...

It's on her safe to use list, but my doc isn't the most reliable at conveying important info. I'm switching docs because of this; the latest issue being the fact that I failed my GTT test by large numbers and neither she nor her office chose to call me. I waited more than a week and finally called them to find out... So let's just say my trust in her is a bit jaded. Thus I thought I'd double check to see what you ladies knew and whether it backed up my doc or not.

I'm recovering from pneumonia, and was sick in October.  When speaking with the pharmacist, their opinion was that the salt water was the safest and most effective (of safe options).  I did break down and bought drops, but I only bought the Halls Vitamin C; the only medical ingredient is vitamin C, so it just helps keep throat moist.
