I have been BF my beautiful baby girl for 3.5 weeks, she's gaining weight well and more or less we seem to have no major problems when it comes to the actual BF.
For the last couple of days I've been using a breast pump (have to go back to work in feb and want to be prepared) and I'm just a little worried as can only pump about 2oz at a time - is this normal? will the amount increase?
Also is it safe to 'add' to the milk i pumped throughout the day to get a full bottle? Or should I just use the freezer bags and save them 2oz at a time?
Any advice for this first time mum would be gratefully received right now
Re: Pumping 2oz at a time - is this normal?
2 ounces is normal. It will likely increase when you are pumping more often without a nursing session in between.
A full bottle should be 3-4 ounces and you can mix them. I would keep some in smaller portions for a little top off during growth spurts though.
Its totally fine to combine milk as long as its the same temperature.
