Normal. The young babies nurse a ton, particularly at night to get full before sleeping. Don't worry; while night cluster feeding might continue, your baby will get more efficient at nursing and it will take less time.
You want to nurse him whenever he wants, so that your body builds the supply of milk that he needs. This is both for now and ongoing; there isn't really any "forcing to stop" with BFing. Your baby will stop when he is done.
For us, I really watched to see if he was sucking and swallowing. Sometimes he was just comfort sucking, so a paci helped him suck to soothe and go to sleep.
Thanks for your help I noticed he was probably just comfort sucking and tried the paci (I was trying to avoid this). He went to sleep pretty quick afterward.

Congrats on your new LO!
