Yes, synthetic fabrics only need to be washed once. Natural fabrics should be washed 3-5x before the first use. I usually boil for 30 minutes and then do 3 washes.
When washing you should use detergent and dry them fully in between washes. Doing this increases the absorbency of the fabrics.
