Scared of the dark maybe?

Will's laying in his bed with the lights in his room on.  He's not quite asleep, he's awake enough to tell you he doesn't want the light off.  I wonder if he's scared of the dark  He's been doing this everynight.

Re: Scared of the dark maybe?

  • We just had the same-type problem  2 weeks ago. DS use to never cry when I put him to bed then all of the sudden a few weeks ago he would scream and cry and say on, on, on for several mins. DH and I thought maybe it was b/c he was getting up from his nap 45 mins later then normal but we still put him down at the same bedtime. We tried moving bedtime later to see if that was it but after 2-3 nights we realized that didn't help. We then put 2 nightlights in his room where they we're kindof hidden but still put off light. This worked the 1st night and he has went to sleep just like before without a fuss. We had done this before several months ago but he would stay up and play for 2 hours and talk about the night light, so we took them out until recently again. Now he can't actually see the nightlight but they do put off light. I tell him every night before I lay him down that his "special" lights are on (and I point to them/the light) and that they will stay on all night long for Cooper. Works for now, so we're sticking with it.
  • Dumb question, but do you have a nightlight in his room?

Dana does, and I've actually thought of buying her a brighter one because she also seems to be afraid of the dark sometimes. She'll also wake up in the middle of the night and search for her pacifier (I watch her on the video monitor), and when she can't find it I have to drag myself out of bed and get it for her.
